What is Autism?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that affects communication, social interaction, and behavior in varying degrees. It's characterized by a range of challenges including difficulty with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication.
According to the CDC, autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children in the United States. It is about 4 times more common among boys than girls. Each person with autism has a unique pattern of behavior and level of severity—from gifted to severely challenged.

What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific, evidence-based approach to understanding behavior and how it is affected by the environment. ABA therapy applies our understanding of how behavior works in real situations to increase helpful behaviors and decrease behaviors that may interfere with learning or harm.
Research shows that early intensive behavioral intervention using ABA principles improves outcomes for many children with autism. The techniques can be used in structured situations, such as a classroom lesson, as well as in everyday activities like family dinnertime or playground play.

Early Intervention
Early intervention refers to services and supports that are available to babies and young children with developmental delays and disabilities and their families. Research shows that early intervention can significantly improve a child's development and reduce the need for special education services later in life.
For children with autism, research indicates that intensive early intervention, particularly before age 5, can significantly improve outcomes in cognition, language, adaptive behavior, and social skills. The earlier the intervention begins, the better the outcome tends to be.
